It’s November, which means you officially have permission to grow a mustache. “Movember” is a month-long effort by the Movember Foundation to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues like prostate cancer, testicular cancer, poor mental health, and physical inactivity.
About Movember
The Movember Foundation is a global charity committed to happier, healthier, and longer lives for men. Since 2003, the Foundation has raised $650 million and funded over 1,000 programs that focus on men’s health.
According to the Foundation, growing a mustache in November is a way to start conversations about men’s health. The mustache is “nature’s billboard,” the Movember website says.
Movember goes beyond conversations. Participants, friends, and family can donate to the causes Movember supports.
MOVE in Movember
Also in November, the Movember Foundation hosts a MOVE challenge. Participants can sign up to move every day during November while raising funds for men’s health.
This challenge tackles the issue of physical inactivity and encourages men to be physically fit, because “sitting is the new smoking.”
